IPSMCD HAS EXECUTE SEWERAGE WORKS IN PANAJI UNDER AMRUT AND SMART CITIES MISSION

Urges public to alert office to undertake remedial measures

As part of Smart City Mission/AMRUT schemes, various sewerage works such as laying of HDPE pipeline by HDD method, Manhole Construction, Cross connections, Collection Chambers etc. have been executed in various parts of Panaji.

Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited has informed that the HDPE pipelines have been laid through trenchless method of Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD). The Public Works Department (PWD) and Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA), the executing Departments have submitted that there is apprehension that the gaps/voids between the drilled hole for the pipe and the pipe laid would be naturally filled with surrounding soil and there is possibility that this may lead to settlement of road in the stretches during monsoons.

In the areas of Fontainhas, Mala, Rua de Qurem Road, Bhatlem, Central Panaji (MG Road and branch network) and area around Directorate of Agriculture, Tonca the work has been executed by the Public Work Department, Division XXVII, under AMRUT Mission. Another, along the Road from Vivanta Junction to Tonca Bridge and further upto Goa International Hotel Junction the work has been executed by Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) under Smart Cities Mission. A substantial portion of road surfaces in the said stretches has been temporarily laid with bitumen layer to make the roads motorable. Further, as part of their ongoing road project, GSUDA has laid new electrical lines, water supply lines in the abovementioned stretches.
