Firefighters on Wednesday battled a large fire at a Waste Management building in Hartland.
Hartland Fire Department Chief Dave Jambretz told WISN 12 News fire crews were dispatched to the scene about 4:30 p.m. for a fire alarm. The call was quickly upgraded to a possible explosion and structure fire with people possibly trapped inside.
When the first firefighters arrived, a single-story pole barn was fully engulfed with heavy smoke and flames, and part of it was beginning to collapse, Jambretz said.
They quickly confirmed with Waste Management that no one was inside the building.
No one was injured.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but Jambretz said there was a natural gas truck inside the building.
Jambretz said they won't be able to get inside the building to investigate until a structural engineer checks it for safety.
